Basic BMS Package 

Do you want to build your own controller with components like the ones used in the BPath Module controller XL?

We have prepared a basic BMS Package for you. Display and BMS are programmed with the latest software which is the same software as used on the BPath Module Controller XL. Each package is tested before dispatch.

The BMS functionality should be easy to configure following the installation manual (see attachment 1). When in doubt or struggling with design choices you can opt for help via our design review ticket. The designer of many lithium battery systems will answer any question you may have.

This package consists of:

BMS board with panel mounting base for NS 35 or NS 32 DIN rail.

On/off button with color LED ring (50 cm cable with connector)

3.5-inch color touch display, mounting frame, 50 cm cable and connector

Hardware

• BPATH BMS circuit board.
• Phoenix UM 72-Profil for NS 35 or NS 32 DIN rails assembly.
• 50 Ohm pre-charge resistor.
• 12V DC or PWM output for main contactor.
• Voltage Based State of Charge estimation.
• CAN Bus connector for Victron GX communication.
• Potential free contact for charge enable.
• 12V DC output for Heat enable.
• 12v DC output for Cool enable.

Functionality

• Cell balancing for Tesla 6S modules from Model S/X (max 26 modules).
• Cell balancing for BMW I3 modules 60/90/120 Ah (max 8 modules).
• Cell balancing for Mitsubishi Outlander modules (max 10 modules).
• Contactor trip at high/low cell voltage and high module temperature.
• Error messages at high/low cell voltage/temperature and at too much difference between highest and lowest cell voltage.
• Precharge.
• State-of-charge indication. Readout via display and the LED ring changes color from green to red depending on the SOC.
• Indication of the 6 cell voltages and the 2 temperatures for each Tesla module.
• Indication of battery voltage (and current when shunt is installed).
• BMS information via Canbus on Victron GX devices: temperature, errors, SOC, voltage, current (when shunt is installed), highest/lowest cell.
• Selection between Celsius / Fahrenheit.

Extra functionality for Victron GX devices (this is not mandatory):

• Temperature dependent charge current. low temperature low charge current. High temperature low charge current.
• Charge voltage adjustable from BPath BMS.
• Storage mode, for the period when the battery is not used. Reduced charge voltage for extended life, for Victron compatible chargers.
